I am beyond excited for the books coming in 2019. I’m also hoping this year will be a better year in general, but we’ll focus on the books that I cannot wait for at the moment! I’ve limited myself to only twelve books, but there is a whole host of other books I cannot wait for, which you’ll see in my quarterly Most Anticipated seasonal posts. The Winter one is already up! Anyway, let’s get started.
1. An Unconditional Freedomby Alyssa Cole
This book was pushed back to 2019 and I was kind of sad about it, but I love Alyssa Cole and I’m glad she took the time she needed to write the book. Anyway, this one just recently got a star review from Kirkus, which is exciting! It follows Daniel, who was free, then sold into slavery, and then freed again (I think) and he winds up in Florida where he meets a Cuban woman and… Honestly, does it matter what this book is about? Alyssa is such a brilliant writer that I will read literally anything that she writes. But I have especially loved this series.
Release Date: February 26, 2019
2. When We Left Cuba by Chanel Cleeton
Next Year in Havana was one of my favorite reads of 2018 and I am so stoked about this sequel! I cannot wait to have it playing in the car while I drive and probably while I clean, eat my dinner, lay in bed for however long it takes until the audiobook is over. (I loved the audiobook for Next Year in Havana so much, so I know that’s how I’m going to read the sequel.) When We Left Cuba follows Beatriz, who was apparently a spy and tried to assassinate Fidel Castro?? I cannot wait to read this one. I’m so excited.
Release Date: April 9, 2019
3. A Prince on Paper by Alyssa Cole
I did mention that I’m a thousand percent obsessed with Alyssa Cole, right? The Reluctant Royals series is so fantastic and wonderful and I cannot wait for this next full novel installment. (I’m also excited about Once Ghosted, Twice Shy, which is the novella coming out in January that I discussed in my Winter edition of highly anticipated books.) Nya was such a great secondary character in A Princess in Theory and I can’t wait to learn more about her in A Prince on Paper. But my precious baby, Johan?? I cannot wait to see him brought to his knees by Nya. Ahhh!!! After A Duke by Default, one of my favorites in 2018, I was so invested in Johan. He is such a good friend and I really enjoyed learning more about him, so I am definitely dying to get my hands on this one.
Release Date: April 30, 2019
4. Wolf Rain by Nalini Singh
WE ARE FINALLY GETTING ALEXEI’S BOOK. First of all, another Snow Dancer book has me ecstatic because it means I’m practically guaranteed a glimpse into how Hawke and Sienna are doing and they’re my precious favorites. But I’m also really excited because Alexei deserves some happiness and joy so. I really cannot wait. There’s not a cover for this book yet. I’m not positive there’s a real blurb. But it doesn’t matter because more Psy-Changeling books are always going to be something to celebrate.
Release Date: June 4, 2019
5. The Right Swipe by Alisha Rai
I could basically sing and dance about all of the books on this list, but to say I’m excited for The Right Swipe is an understatement. This book begins a spinoff series of Rai’s Forbidden Hearts trilogy, which I love with my whole heart. Specifically, The Right Swipe follows Gabe’s sister, Rhiannon, who created a dating app and is now dealing with a guy who disappeared after a great night together showing up with a rival company. That guy is Samson, a former football player who promises he won’t “fumble their second chance.” (What a great sports metaphor, honestly.) Anyway, I could have stopped after point out that the author is Alisha Rai as far as I’m concerned, but yeah, I cannot, CANNOT wait.
Release Date: July 2, 2019
6. The Wedding Party by Jasmine Guillory
Another book from Jasmine Guillory? Yes, please! A hate to love from Jasmine Guillory? Can I have it now, please? Alexa (star of The Wedding Date) has two best friends, Maddie and Theo and they do not like each other. At all. But with Alexa’s wedding coming up, the two are forced into spending a lot more time together and sparks won’t stop flying. So, I obviously can’t wait to read this.
Release Date: July 16, 2019
7. Brazen and the Beastby Sarah MacLean
The sequel to Wicked and the Wallflower, Brazen and the Beast is one I’m really looking forward to because I love this new darker world Sarah is exploring. This one is following Whit, who doesn’t really speak much, and Lady Henrietta who is starting the year of Henrieta before embracing spinsterhood. I’m really excited for a heroine who is taking charge of her life (honestly always) so I cannot wait for this one!
Release Date: July 30, 2019
8. The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare
I love Tessa Dare’s writing. Her stories are funny and witty and usually have kernels of the present struggles in them in a way that I just marvel over. It’s really neat to read a book set in the past that is so obviously written in the present. This particular installment is about Lady Penelope, who loves animals, and gets into a conflict with her (presumably a duke) neighbor who doesn’t like the animals.
Release Date: August 27, 2019
9. Sapphire Flames by Ilona Andrews
Hi, yes, this is the first full length novel following Catalina in the Hidden Legacy world, so I’m obviously excited and cannot wait.
Release Date: August 27, 2019
10. Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell
The sequel to Carry On is a real thing and it’s coming to me?? I cannot believe we have been so blessed. I feel like I’m probably a person Rainbow both loves and hates because I used to randomly tweet her and be like, “Hi, can we please have a sequel to Carry On?” and now WE ARE GETTING ONE. Ahhhhh. We don’t have a cover, a synopsis, OR a release date other than 2019, but like, hi, hello, YES.
11. Guild Hunters #12 by Nalini Singh
Can I just actually put both the next Guild Hunters AND her next contemporary on here? She just revealed in her newsletter that the next contemporary is following single dad Jake, but more importantly CHARLOTTE AND GABRIEL ARE GETTING MARRIED. I almost cried I’m so happy. Anyway, Guirld Hunters 12 obviously doesn’t have a title or I’d be using it (well it does, but Nalini can’t tell us what it is yet). So let’s just say I’m pumped for Nalini’s next works in two worlds I love an incredible amount and cannot wait to be blessed with them in my hands.
12. Whatever Courtney Milan blesses us with…
I’m so serious about this. I mean, please Courtney, give me Find Me, but I’ll take literally anything. She has so many projects in the works, I feel like, that at some point she’s going to wind up flooding us with books and I’m going to lose my mind with excitement. Here’s hoping that year is 2019.
What books are you super excited about? Please let me know!
