Hi, hello, it is summer. I don’t care if it’s not technically summer because MDW is over and also, I’m living in an apartment with no air conditioning and it’s obnoxiously sweaty over here. So anyway, let’s hop to the books I’m currently highly anticipating!
1. The Kiss Quotientby Helen Hoang
I’m obnoxiously excited for this book! But since I’m not totally clear what the plot of this romance novel is, have the Goodreads synopsis instead.
Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases–a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.
It doesn’t help that Stella has Asperger’s and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice–with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can’t afford to turn down Stella’s offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan–from foreplay to more-than-missionary position…
Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but to crave all the other things he’s making her feel. Soon, their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic…

2. A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir
Reaper is the third book in the series that began with An Ember in the Ashes and when I tell you that the end of book two left me in agony, I’m really not exaggerating. Like, I can’t believe I’ve survived until this moment. I’m mere days away from having this book in my possession and I cannot wait. As for the plot of this series, um… There’s a lot of dying interspersed with some (almost) kissing and if what’s her face doesn’t get brutally murdered soon, I’m going to have to have words with Sabaa. Just kidding. Kind of.

3. Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah MacLean
Thanks to Dani at danisbookshelf, I have already received a copy of this masterpiece and have remembered why I keep giving books with revenge and deception plots a shot. Sarah MacLean inexplicably makes me adore tropes I hate and I honestly can’t begin to explain why. I mean, her books are funny and the characters are wonderful, but like, by rights, I should have hated this book. And yet…
Felicity Faircloth is on the shelf, but that doesn’t stop her from telling her former best friends at a very crowded ball that she’s already landed the new Duke. Meanwhile, Devil made a pact with the Duke and Whit (the other brother) that there would be no heirs so he’s not about to stand for this. Except he’s already half in love with Felicity.
In conclusion, Sarah MacLean can do no wrong in my eyes and I loved this book and cannot wait for my finished copy so that I can blast the internet with the lines I highlighted in the ARC.

4. Dr. Strange Beardby Penny Reid
Y’all. I am distraught. I genuinely thought this was Billy and Claire’s book, but NO, I have to wait EVEN LONGER for that one. That said, Roscoe, my little precious bean, is getting his happily ever after! I’m very excited. It’s already been pre-ordered. If you haven’t tried out the Winston Brothers series yet… Um… Do that? I highly recommend.

5. A Duke by Defaultby Alyssa Cole
So, I’m not crazy about Portia based on A Princess in Theory because being a good friend is extremely important to me and I have little patience for people who aren’t. However, given that Portia tries, that Alyssa Cole is, well, Alyssa Cole, and our hero is a Hufflegruff? I AM READY. If this book could be deposited in my hands immediately, I would be most grateful. Also, who can get enough of royalty right now? Not me. I’m pumped.

6. Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J. Maas
New Sarah J. Maas this Spring, Summer, and Fall has me extremely spoiled. I’m not mad about it though. Catwoman is obviously about Catwoman (aka Selina Kyle) and the excerpt I read sounded so good! I, um, don’t need to know any more than what I’ve said here, but the link will take you to the Goodreads page!

7. The Governess Gameby Tessa Dare
HELLO, NEW TESSA DARE THIS SUMMER. I am the most excited for these summer reads, tbh. I don’t know that I’m super pumped about a governess/duke-to-be trope is one I’m particularly into, but like… It’s Tessa Dare. She has yet to let me down so… I AM READY. Also, she teased us on Twitter today and I am so excited. I just want it right now.
Release Date: August 28, 2018
Normally I would give you all a list of ten, but tbh, I just can’t this season. These are the ones I’m the most excited about and actually have almost all of them pre-ordered. Sorry bank account! What books are you looking forward to? Let me know!
