Bang In the Night 2 Bingo TBR

I am so happy that B (b.andherbooks) and Jacque (onthesamepa9e) are back with Bang in the Night Bingo! I really love reading challenges so much. This particular reading challenge begins on September 19th (today!) and runs through 10/31! You should definitely follow B and Jacque and join the Discord if you want to be able to win some prizes. You can read one book for up to three squares on the board, so I’m going to go over some books I want to read for this and hopefully I can manage to fill the board. There are some prompts I just have no idea about, so I hope you may be able to share with me some recommendations too!

Bang In the Night Bingo Board

Bang In the Night Bingo Board

Row One

Prompt One: I’m Horny (MC with Horns)

Book Selection: The Half-Orc’s Maiden Bride by Ruby Dixon

Why: I mentioned before that monster books are outside of my comfort zone, but I gave into the hype and read a couple of Ice Planet Barbarian books, so I’m dipping my toe back into monsters with another Ruby Dixon. I am assuming that orcs have horns. I swear I watched and read Lord of the Rings, but, uh… I don’t remember. But also, Suzanne from Love in Panels wrote a review that swayed me to this one.

Prompt Two: Howlin’ for You (A Shifter Romance)

Book Selection: To Her Rescue by Dria Andersen

Why: B was recommended this book by Essie and then came into the Discord talking it up so much that I had to add it to my TBR immediately!

Prompt Three: Skull on the Cover

Book Selection: A Dreadful Splendor by B. R. Myers

Why: This cover is so cute and the description had both myself and my sister intrigued when we were last in Barnes & Noble together. I think she picked it up, but if not, I think I’m going to have to go get it myself!

Prompt Four: Trick or Treat (Characters in Costume)

Book Selection: Costume Cutty by Chencia C. Higgins

Why: Suzanne said she was picking it up for this prompt and I said, “cool, me too,” basically. I really like Higgins’ writing and I’m always up for a quick novella.

Prompt Five: #BangInTheNight (Sex in a Spooky Location)

Book Selection: TBD

Please share any recommendations you have! I can tell you that The Holiday Trap by Roan Parrish (ARC Review) includes a finger bang scene in a cemetery in NoLa so that would fit if you’re interested!

Row Two

Prompt: Into the Woods! (Set in the woods or forest)

Book Selection: For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten

Why: I’ve had this book sitting on my shelf for… a year? I bought it not long after it came out. So it’s high time to actually read it.

Prompt: PSL Vibes

Book Selection: Fall into You by Georgina Kiersten

Why: I was scrolling Goodreads and saw Leigh’s review for this one and immediately clicked Want to Read. I’m in a bit of a novella mood right now so this seems like it will hit the spot.

Prompt: A Deal with the Devil
(either the MCs make a deal or the word devil is in the title)

Book Selection: The Devil You Know by Elizabeth O’Roark

Why: This book is literally on my Summer Most Anticipated list, but I’ve been inexplicably dragging my feet. I think this might be a sort of Break In Case of Emergency book as well.

Prompt: Published in October

Book Selection: A Turn of the Tide by Kelley Armstrong

Why: I have several October ARCs, but this one fits the vibe the best of the reading challenge and also I’m really invested in this series so I’m excited to continue on.

Prompt: A Dark & Stormy Night (the word dark in the title)

Book Selection: Dark of Night by Suzanne Brockmann

Why: I’ve been telling myself to continue the Troubleshooters series for entirely too long to still be dragging my feet and yet, here we are. So it is time!!

Row Three

Prompt: This is Halloween!

Book Selection: Costume Cutty by Chencia C. Higgins

Why: You’ve already seen the why above, so I’ll just say that I think this book actually includes Halloween, so everyone cross your fingers for me.

Prompt: #SquadGhouls

Book Selection: A Lesson in Thorns by Sierra Simone

Why: Well, to spoil where this book shows up later, Jacque included this book (and series) in her #BeGayDoCrimes recommendations post, so I knew I wanted to use it there and since this series (I think) involves polyamory or at least a group of friends, I figure it works for this prompt too!

Prompt: Free Space

Prompt: It’s a Sign (Astrology or Tarot Related)

Book Selection: Ruthless Fae by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

Why: Sarah (my sister) kept bugging me to read Zodiac Academy so I just finished the first one earlier this month and now I’m hyped to continue. I’m very intrigued by this world and the magic system. And, the twins are Geminis and astrology and tarot both seem to play a large role.

Prompt: There’s a Cat!

Book Selection: Go Hex Yourself by Jessica Clare

Why: Go Hex Yourself was a bit of an impulse purchase, but I bought it and now I need to actually read it. And there’s a cat on the cover! So, I’m looking forward to it, I think.

Row Four

Prompt: Who You Gonna Call? (Ghosts!!)

Book Selection: The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston

Why: I read the first chapter of this in a Try a Chapter tag a few months ago and was definitely intrigued to continue. I picked it up on a whim, but I was also heavily influenced by Kim and her joy in reading it on Instagram.

Prompt: BIPOC Romance and Prompt: I Put a Spell on You (book ft. magic)

Book Selection: The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna

Why: If I remember correctly, Aarya was the person who first raved about this book where I saw it and got intrigued. And since then, I feel like everyone has loved it! But, for real, when Aarya describes a book as a warm hug? It’s definitely a book I need to pick up. And I have at least made it as far as purchasing it, so I’m ready!

Prompt: An Orange Cover

Book Selection: The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston

Why: I’m going with this cover is orange. Is it pumpkin orange? No. But it’s as orange as it’s getting for me.

Prompt: Double Double Toil Trouble (Twins)

Book Selection: Ruthless Fae by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

Why: As I mentioned above, there are twins (Darcy and Tory).

Row Five

Prompt: #ReadGayDoCrimes

Book Selection: A Lesson in Thorns by Sierra Simone

Why: As mentioned previously, Jacque.

Prompt: Bite Me (Vampire Romance)

Book Selection: A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor by Kathryn Moon

Why: Well. Because this book is already on my Kindle somehow and I’ve heard good things about Kathryn Moon. Am I scared? Yes. But will I like it? Hopefully?

Prompt: Full Moon on the Cover or Stepback

Book Selection: Go Hex Yourself by Jessica Clare

Why: There’s a full moon that is the ‘o’ in the title.

Prompt: #BeastMode (Monster Romance)

Book Selection: A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor by Kathryn Moon

Why: See above.

Prompt: Murder, She Wrote

Book Selection: A Dreadful Splendor by B. R. Myers

Why: This is a romantic murder mystery, I think. So I’m looking forward to it.

Final Thoughts

I am so excited to get started! Please let me know if you’re participating and if so what you’re reading. And if you know of something that fits the sexy times in a spooky location part, please share with me!

xx
