Most Anticipated Books of Summer

Do you ever have a list of so many books that are on your radar that when you start making a list of books to keep on your radar you get overwhelmed? That was a little bit me as I sat down to work on this post! Summer is admittedly not full of months like May when like a hundred books come out, but some of my most anticipated releases are coming out in the next three months! So let’s talk about some of them!

Most Anticipated Books of Summer

The Devil You Know by Elizabeth O’Roark

Goodreads Synopsis: There’s a devil on my shoulder, and every Monday morning she announces herself. She’s this delicious flame in my chest, a flurry of whispered suggestions in my ear. Suggestions I ignore…because every single one of them is about Ben Tate.

Ben—Stealer of Clients, Evicter of Homeless Women, Nemesis. Sitting across from me every damn Monday with his lovely, smug smile and his too-perfect teeth, the living symbol of everything I hate.

It’s been my policy to avoid him, but when a case comes into the firm—one that could change his career and mine—I make an exception. It means weekends and evenings by his side. It means enduring his smirk and his smart mouth and never taking the bait.

Until the night Ben says, “Beg.”
And that devil on my shoulder decides to make a few demands of her own.

Why I’m Excited: I have five starred both of the first two books in this series and A Deal with the Devil is maybe, probably, my favorite book of the year so far. So I am so excited for this third installment in the series!

Eclipse the Moon by Jessie Mihalik

Goodreads Synopsis: Kee Ildez has been many things: hacker, soldier, bounty hunter. She never expected to be a hero, but when a shadowy group of traitors starts trying to goad the galaxy’s two superpowers into instigating an interstellar war, Kee throws herself into the search to find out who is responsible—and stop them.

Digging up hidden information is her job, so hunting traitors should be a piece of cake, but the primary suspect spent years in the military, and someone powerful is still covering his tracks. Disrupting their plans will require the help of her entire team, including Varro Runkow, a Valovian weapons expert who makes her pulse race.

Quiet, grumpy, and incredibly handsome, Varro watches her with hot eyes but ignores all of her flirting, so Kee silently vows to keep her feelings strictly platonic. But that vow will be put to the test when she and Varro are forced to leave the safety of their ship and venture into enemy territory alone.

Cut off from the rest of their team, they must figure out how to work together—and fast—because a single misstep will cost thousands of lives.

Why I’m Excited: I’ve already read this one, but it’s a very solid installment in Mihalik’s sci-fi romance works. I really appreciated the unique pacing of the romantic plot-line and the actual trying to prevent a war plot-line was equally fascinating. Plus, when this one drops, we’ll be closer to the announcement of book three, which I am very eagerly anticipating!

Relentless by Katie Golding

Goodreads Synopsis: Mason King has spent his life making the wrong choices. Not that anyone notices―the Moto Grand Prix racer and bull-riding bad boy lives forever in the shadow of his World Champion big brother. But anonymity has its perks when he’s invited to dinner by Chiara Martes―an off-limits ex-girlfriend of a rival motorcycle racer.

Chiara may be a bit flaky, but she’s always supported her moto racing best friend, and watching him fall in love with another woman wasn’t exactly the highlight of her timeline. After being left (secretly) heartbroken, a one-night stand with infamous Mason King seems just the ticket to a successful rebound.

The two hit it off far too well, their sexual chemistry explosive, and soon Mason and Chiara’s single hot date expands into a stream of circuit rendezvous and covert vacations until they’re falling for each other at warp speed. But Chiara fears her strained childhood friendship will crumble apart if her romance with a rival is discovered. Still, she may not have a choice when a high-profile rodeo dares Mason back into the arena―eight seconds forever defining three couples, and revealing one very big secret between them.

Why I’m Excited: Well, tbh, I had this book on my Most Anticipated Books of Winter list and then it got moved and a new cover? I’m honestly confused about why, but I don’t even care because I love Golding’s writing and I’m really looking forward to Mason’s book!

Within hours, the fate of Houston—not to mention the House of Baylor—now rests on Catalina, who will have to harness her powers as never before. Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood

Goodreads Synopsis: Like an avenging, purple-haired Jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project–a literal dream come true after years scraping by on the crumbs of academia–Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.

Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. And sure, he caught her in his powerfully corded arms like a romance novel hero when she accidentally damseled in distress on her first day in the lab. But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad school–archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away.

Now, her equipment is missing, the staff is ignoring her, and Bee finds her floundering career in somewhat of a pickle. Perhaps it’s her occipital cortex playing tricks on her, but Bee could swear she can see Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas…devouring her with those eyes. And the possibilities have all her neurons firing. But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there’s only one question that matters: What will Bee do?

Why I’m Excited: I really love Hazelwood’s writing and after the three novellas, I’m looking forward to reading the next full novel from Hazelwood. Here’s hoping we maybe get a wee bit different characters though, you know?

Heartbreaker by Sarah MacLean

Goodreads Synopsis: Raised among London’s most notorious criminals, a twist of fate landed Adelaide Frampton in the bright ballrooms of Mayfair, where she masquerades as a quiet wallflower—so plain and unassuming that no one realizes she’s the Matchbreaker…using her superior skills as a thief to help brides avoid the altar.

Henry, Duke of Clayborn, has spent a lifetime living in perfection. He has no time for the salacious gossip that arises every time the Matchbreaker ends another groom. His own reputation is impeccable—and the last thing he needs is a frustrating, fascinating woman discovering the truth of his past, or the secrets he holds close.

When the two find themselves on a breakneck journey across Britain to stop a wedding, it’s impossible for Clayborn to resist this woman who both frustrates and fascinates him. But late-night carriage rides make for delicious danger…and soon Adelaide is uncovering Clayborn’s truths, throwing his well-laid plans into chaos…and threatening to steal his heavily guarded heart.

Why I’m Excited: I generally love Sarah MacLean’s historical romances and I really loved the first installment in this series! So I’m quite looking forward to Adelaide’s book!

Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Goodreads Synopsis: By the time Carrie retires from tennis, she is the best player the world has ever seen. She has shattered every record and claimed twenty Slam titles. And if you ask her, she is entitled to every one. She sacrificed nearly everything to become the best, with her father as her coach.

But six years after her retirement, Carrie finds herself sitting in the stands of the 1994 US Open, watching her record be taken from her by a brutal, stunning, British player named Nicki Chan.

At thirty-seven years old, Carrie makes the monumental decision to come out of retirement and be coached by her father for one last year in an attempt to reclaim her record. Even if the sports media says that they never liked the ‘Battle-Axe’ anyway. Even if her body doesn’t move as fast as it did. And even if it means swallowing her pride to train with a man she once almost opened her heart to: Bowe Huntley. Like her, he has something to prove before he gives up the game forever.

In spite of it all: Carrie Soto is back, for one epic final season. In this riveting and unforgettable novel, Taylor Jenkins Reid tells a story about the cost of greatness and a legendary athlete attempting a comeback.

Why I’m Excited: I love TJR’s writing.
