If I have a lot of fantasy books that I’m trying to figure out to prioritize the same could be said for historical fiction titles. Growing up historical fiction was my favorite genre and I credit that for my passing of the AP U.S. History exam more than I do the actual class, but that’s another story. As an adult I have no real idea of what I like about historical fiction in general beyond I love the way Susanna Kearsley writes dual timelines. So I hope this year to figure out what kinds of historical fiction I should be prioritizing as I try to reconnect with that piece of my childhood reading.

- The Paris Apartment by Kelly Bowen
- Wild Women and the Blues by Denny S. Bryce

- Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
- The Clockmaker’s Daughter by Kate Morton

I’d put Chanel Cleeton at the top of the list, but that’s because I love her writing and that book. I also loved The Nightingale, but it’s slow to start. The payoff is big, though,

I do love Chanel Cleeton. It’s weird I haven’t read that one yet!
I know I need to read The Nightingale because everyone loves it so much, but it’s so intimidating!
