I am back with another list of favorites for you today because I just can’t help myself but have several lists. We’ll get into how many books I read total in 2021, but I think it was right around 270 so this is sort of like a list of 10 per 100 books read. Or something. Anyway, let’s talk about these books, shall we?

10. Once Upon a Rose by Laura Florand
Why I Loved This Book: Layla and Matt are just… really precious. I loved Matt’s character development. Also his growling was so amusing.
9. The Magnolia Chronicles by Kate Canterbary
Why I Loved This Book: Magnolia. I mean, honestly, I could put basically every Kate Canterbary book I’ve read on this (except for The Belle and the Beard, which is on my 2021 releases list) because I love her character work SO MUCH. This book is borderline women’s fiction, but it was perfect for me and I loved it so much.
8. On the Edge by Ilona Andrews
Why I Loved This Book: This book was an adventure and it was really fun. I loved the cast, the world, the writing… You know. Ilona Andrews just always appeals to me.
7. Gifting Me to His Best Friend by Katee Robert
Why I Loved This Book: This novella is hot af and I feel like set me on fire.
6. Adjacent by Alexandra Warren
Why I Loved This Book: I adored this novella and the neighbors to lovers situation where they don’t really seem to like one another. It was a delight.

5. Love Notes by Christina C. Jones
Why I Loved This Book: CCJ just absolutely delivered here in all the ways I wanted. She introduced such a huge cast of characters and a community that I can’t wait to read more about.
4. Dirty Rowdy Thing by Christina Lauren
Why I Loved This Book: Harlow and Finn are just… everything. This book was incredible and I loved it. They both are going through some things and the way they come together is just… beautiful. I loved this one so much.
3. Ravishing the Heiress by Sherry Thomas
Why I Loved This One: I sort of thought the angst might break me in this one, but Millie and Fitz coming together was just absolutely magical. I loved everything about this book. It was perfection.
2. Going Nowhere Fast by Kati Wilde
Why I Loved This One: Again, the angst in this book was just, perfectly done for me. Also, it made me cry?? The audacity. But I loved it. Aspen and Bran both have their issues (mostly Bran, tbh), but ahhh. I loved it. It hurt me and it healed me all at the same time.
1. Iron and Magic by Ilona Andrews
Why I Loved This One: ELARA AND HUGH!!!!!!! This book was actual perfection and I will accept no arguments suggesting otherwise. This book was actually everything and it was brilliant and amazing. I cannot wait for the sequel.
What were your favorite backlist books you read last year? I would love to hear about them!

I’m with you on Iron and Magic. I expected to hate that book considering how much I’d disliked High through the Kate Daniels series to that point but it was such a good book. I just wish we had the next one already but I’m good at being patient for an Ilona Andrews release, I remember the long wait between Burn for Me and White Hot.
