#TisTheDamnReadathon TBR

There is literally no way that I could resist a combination of Taylor Swift and books. I mean, combining my two favorite things into one event is like a siren call. Hosted by a whole bunch of people, #TisTheDamnReadathon takes place from March 1-March 31st and I am determined to collect all of the albums. They have a Twitter that is important to follow for some more connections! Here is a list of the hosts:

Anyway, now that I’ve told you almost no information about this readathon, let’s talk about my TBR for it!

’tis the damn readathon board
Shaped like a house, starting from the top is reputation, then left to right in the next “row” is 1989, folklore, and Lover, then the floor below that is Fearless, evermore, and Red, then on the bottom you have Taylor Swift, the door, and Speak Now

You can complete the readathon in a lot of different ways, but I’m going to be excessive and try and complete all of the prompts for each album, except I may substitute a couple for the “Blank Space” prompts.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift: Read a Memoir

I’m going to be buddy reading The Meaning of Mariah Carey by Mariah Carey with Melinda! We’d been planning on this for ages, but I got nervous about the content. I’m still not sure I’m ready, but also I am ready so here’s hoping it goes well.

Our Song: Read a Book About Music

So I could definitely double up here, but I actually plan to try and read The Unraveling of Cassidy Holmes by Elissa S. Sloane. This book is pitched as Daisy Jones and The Six and whatever Everything I Never Told You is, which means I have a decent chance of loving it. I’m a little concerned about the fact that it involves one of the women from this pop group having died by suicide and then the other three reflecting, but hopefully it’ll work for me! It’s a full cast audiobook and I love that part so much.

Picture to Burn: Post a picture to your Instagram Story showing off your book.

Fearless

Fearless: Read an Intimidating Book

I think I’m going to do The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue by V. E. Schwab, which is intimidating for me because basically all non-romance books are intimidating to me, but especially when they involve fantasy and flowery writing. But I want to give this one a shot and the audio just came in from my library.

Fifteen: Read a YA Book

I honestly have so many YA books that I own either physically or digitally that I need to read, but I’m going with Love from A to Z by S. K. Ali for this prompt because I’m really trying to tackle my physical TBR in case I have to move again soon.

Breathe: Do some meditation

I really need to get back to doing that sleep meditation I found on my sister’s Pelaton app. I liked it…

Speak Now

Speak Now: Read book three of a series/trilogy

I’ve preordered Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert and there is a zero percent chance I’ll be able to resist cracking it open immediately. I do also have Sandcastle Beach by Jenny Holiday on my TBR though and it’s certainly possible I read that for this one and use Act Your Age Eve Brown for read a five star prediction, but we’ll see how things go.

If This Was a Movie: Read a Book to Movie/TV Adaptation

I’ve been watching season two of A Discovery of Witches and now I really want to reread the books so that’s my choice.

Speak Now: Listen to an Audiobook

I’m actually planning on listening to several audiobooks so this is likely a double up with another prompt situation.

Red

Red: Read a Book with Red on the Cover

I truly have too many options for this prompt and am overwhelmed with choices. I am leaning toward Ante Up by Christina C. Jones since it is also on my #SpringIntoRomBingo TBR and also, I love CCJ.

Begin Again: Read a Book You DNF’d

I sort of wandered away from my ARC of Her Night with the Duke by Diana Quincy many months ago and then bought it on audio in the hopes that I would actually read it. Instead, it is still sitting and waiting for my feedback in Netgalley. So I figure this is a good reason to press on and finally finish it up.

22: Take a Dance Break

1989

1989: Read a Book with a Number in the Title

Speaking of ARCs I wandered away from, I need to actually finish Ten Rules for Faking It by Sophie Sullivan so I’ve got to get on that one… It’s on Hoopla for the audio so I think I’ll do a combination of audio and reading my e-arc to finish it up.

Bad Blood: Read a Book with a Morally Grey Character

Blank Space: Read a book with a main character whose name has appeared in a Taylor song

I am sure I will find and probably read books with morally grey characters this month, but it’s not usually something I seek out and I decided I may as well sub in this Blank Space prompt. I think I’m going to pick up Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare, which has been on my shelf since it released last year. One of the main characters is named James so that works for this prompt nicely!

Shake It Off: Make a cocktail/mocktail

An excuse to order take out so I can get a Cantina Louie margarita? Don’t mind if I do. (Ordering take out cocktails is the same as making one, yes? Yes.)

Reputation

Reputation: Read a Non-Romance Book with Romance In It

I’m going to read Empire of Sand by Tasha Suri for this one because Aarya has been raving about it for actual years now and it’s time. It’s past time really. This is a fantasy book with an apparently excellent romantic subplot. I have started it before, I just got sidetracked and didn’t finish it.

Look What You Made Me Do: Read a Book Recommended to You

Oh look, let me just put The Hidden Moon by Jeannie Lin on my TBR for the sixteenth time. But I mean it this time! I’m going to read this one!!

Dress: Match a book to your outfit

Lover

Lover: Read a Five Star Prediction

I think I’m going to skip ahead in my ARC collection and finally read Hang the Moon by Alexandria Bellefleur, which I’ve been so excited to get to and have just been waiting while trying to read all of my other ARCs. But this seems like a good opportunity to sort of leapfrog everything else.

I Forgot that You Existed: Read a Book that’s Been on Your TBR the Longest

I think I’m going to read The Secret History of the Pink Carnation by Lauren Willig for this prompt. My love for Susanna Kearsley has me tentatively interested in dipping my toes into other historical fiction books with dual timeline stories and this one seems like a good place to start. Anyway, I’ve owned this for an inexplicably long time on iBooks, which I don’t even really use anymore.

You Need to Calm Down: Do some calming self-care

I definitely need to do this. Please feel free to leave any suggestions down below. Lol

Folklore

Folklore: Read a retelling/book based on mythology

Blank Space: Read a book with a cat on the cover

Do I have retellings on my TBR? Yes. Like, all the ones I said I was going to get to for #SnowInLoveBingo. But I actually just really want to read Tiny House, Big Love by Olivia Dade, so I’m going to.

Exile: Read a book by two authors

Oh, the choices! I think I may read Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren because again, I really need to be tackling my physical TBR. Or I may read Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews because I really need to continue in the Kate Daniels series. Both of these books are written by two people writing under a pen name.

Cardigan: Wear a cosy outfit / take a cosy picture

Evermore

Evermore: Surprise Yourself with a Book (i.e. random number generator or with your eyes closed, etc.)

I got 183 and when I put the parameters at 1 and 492, which we’re going to pretend covers all of my unread books and not just my kindle TBR folder. Anyway, after sorting my books three different ways I wound up with Irresistible by Melanie Harlow, which I know nothing about besides a few people on YouTube really love her books. Goodreads is telling me it’s a single dad and his nanny romance so… We’ll see how that goes. I may or may not be currently yelling at myself for picking up free books all the time and considering swapping this out for my Blank Space cat prompt and reading a retelling.

No Body No Crime: Read a mystery/thriller

Quiet In Her Bones by Nalini Singh is the obvious choice here and one I’m definitely going to make. I can’t wait to read this one!

Marjorie: Post the best advice you’ve ever been given online

Whew! That is a long TBR, but I’m really excited about almost all of the books on there. Is it cheating to keep pressing generate until you find a book you actually want to read? Asking for a friend. Lol. Anyway, are you participating? I’m really, really excited about this readathon!

xx
