We’re a little ways into September at this point, so maybe it’s too late to share this post, but I am so excited about September releases that I simply have to put my excitement into one place! Also, September is my birth month so another reason to make sure it’s properly documented and celebrated. Anyway, let’s get to the books!
ARCs
How did I wind up with nine ARCs? I keep doing this to myself. But honestly, September has so many new releases that I am so excited about! I’ve started If Not You by Ellen O’Clover and am about 50 pages in, having a good time. But anyway, let me tell you just a bit about each one!
With All My Haunted Heart by Isabel Sterling comes out on September 8th and the quick tagline thing is “a witch hired to ethically haunt a small-town B&B instead finds herself spellbound by her non-magical client in this cozy and enchanting sapphic romance.” It sounds like such a great time, I’m definitely excited to get into it!
Fall Into Place by Kristyn J. Miller also comes out on September 8th and the quick synopsis section is: “Lenore has long believed that her dreams are too big for the small town she grew up in—the same town Callan believes he can never outrun. But one last autumn together could paint their hometown—and each other—in a brand new light.” Definitely excited to get to this one too!
Meet Cute Magic by Morgan Elizabeth comes out on September 8th as well, with a tagline of “She’s a witch who can’t fall in love without getting her heart broken. He holds a grudge like no other.” I’m excited for this one. I have historically really enjoyed Morgan Elizabeth’s writing so I’m hoping I feel similarly in this book.
Love Felt Like This by Julie Olivia also comes out on September 8th and is about “a grumpy rock star and a joyful children’s show creator revive television magic in this cozy small-town romance.” I can’t wait. I loved Olivia’s If It Makes You Happy so much and I’ve really enjoyed her Never Harbor series too.
Tempest by Victoria Aveyard also comes out on September 8th and is a pirate fantasy (romantasy?) sort of vibe. Here’s the two lines that have me intrigued about at the very least our FMC: Cat Rose knows what it is to live in two worlds, in two times. Before—as Lady Catrine Rose of the Meridian Empire, chained to a loathsome lord with a dwindling fortune. And after—as the Widow Rose, queen of a pirate tavern in the Lyrian Sea, determined to be the master of her own fate.
If Not You by Ellen O’Clover comes out on September 15th and it’s about these two people who are rival copy writers for different advertisement firms, but they wind up pitching for the same job and this leads to forced proximity for reasons I haven’t yet figured out. But I loved O’Clover’s The Heartbreak Hotel and I’m already enjoying her writing in If Not You so that’s very exciting.
A Study in Sparkling by Jodi McAlister comes out on September 15th and is “a steamy romance about a recently separated single mom who’s absolutely not looking for another relationship…only to fall for the younger owner of her favorite wine bar.” I’m super excited about it because of how much I loved An Academic Affair.
The Thief and the Traitor Bride by V.L. Bovalino is out on the 29th, but can you just admire this entire synopsis:

HER ESTRANGED HUSBAND? SHE’S A SPY? THEY HAVE TO PRETEND TO BE HAPPILY MARRIED? I’m seated. I’m so excited for this. Have I actually read The Second Death of Locke yet? Nope. Sure haven’t. Did try, couldn’t process the words because August was ROUGH.
The True Confessions of First Lady Freeman by Deesha Philyaw comes out on the 29th as well and I am so excited about this book. I loved Philyaw’s short story collection The Secret Lives of Church Ladies and this sounds like it would belong in that collection, except it’s a full length novel. The tagline is “The wife of a popular and powerful megachurch pastor upends her charmed “rags-to-Rolex” life when her secret past comes roaring into the spotlight.”
New Releases I Know I’m Purchasing
Each of these books is a continuation in a series so that’s a fun fact. September truly is just such a gift. I can’t believe how many books there are! I’m so excited for all of these… I just need to have more free time this month than I think I will to get to them all.
Other Books On My Radar
I really need someone to tell me if See You Next Tuesday is going to be like a comforting political read or if even though they’re both Democrats, it’s still infuriating and makes you too aware that the US is… well, in the state that it’s in. Actually, for most of these books, I’m interested in reviews. That’s why they haven’t been moved up into “I know I’m buying this” status. So let me know if you plan to or have picked any of these up! I’d love to know.
Closing Thoughts
