November TBR + New Releases

Y’all, this is the month of several highly anticipated follow up reads and I am so excited about them. In addition to sequels and ARCs though, I’m also going to try and participate in the Clearursht readathon for the first time. It’s a story based reading challenge and for the first week our challenges are to read the book you’ve most recently acquired, which for me, I’m saying was That’s a Great Question, I’d Love to Tell You by Elyse Myers, a book with a child in it or middle grade novel, for which I’m reading Totally and Completely Fine by Elissa Sussman, and to read a book with an intimidating/scary character in it, for which I’ll be reading Son of the Morning by Akwaeke Emezi. We’ll see how my participation goes… But let’s chat about the books, shall we?

November TBR

New Releases I Have as an ARC

Coming out on November 4th, Son of the Mornings synopsis is as follows:

Tenderhearted Galilee was raised by the Kincaids, a formidable clan of Black women sequestered deep in the weeping willows and dark rushing creeks of their land. Galilee has always known that she’s different—that there is an old and unknowable secret around her very existence. It has been a hollow ache inside her since her childhood, something she assumes she will always have to live with.

Until she meets Lucifer Helel. He’s fronting as the head of security for her wealthy friend Oriaku’s family, protecting a mysterious, ancient artifact, but from the moment she lays eyes on him, Gali knows he’s not human. From her first incendiary touch, Lucifer knows something even Gali herself doesn’t—that she isn’t human either.

Leviathan. As Lucifer’s most trusted prince of Hell, Levi is ruthless and determined to eliminate the intolerable danger that is Galilee before she brings death and disaster to those he loves. While unseen battles rage between Hell, Heaven, and earth, Lucifer and Galilee’s attraction threatens to bring all the structures of their existence crashing down around them.

Soon, loyalties will be shattered and reformed as Kincaid secrets clash with the princes of Hell, driving even the most powerful to their knees. Galilee Kincaid must decide if she will step into herself and embrace the consequences of power in this astonishing, seductive, and wildly original fantasy.

Coming out on November 11th, An Academic Affair is a fantastically done book about Sadie, who is an adjunct professor (called something different because this is set in Australia) desperately trying to get a full time job because being an adjunct is terrible. She has an academic rival, Jonah, who despite having a leg up due to his (terrible father) is also desperately trying to secure a full time job. For romance reasons that I shall not explain, they wind up in a marriage of convenience. It is everything. However, if you are sensitive to toxic family dynamics, for a variety of reasons, you may want to tread lightly. I did, for what it’s worth, think it turned out quite beautifully and I cannot wait for more. Also, also… Julia is definitely getting a book. IYKYK.

The Seven Rings by Nora Roberts is the conclusion to The Lost Bride trilogy, which I have absolutely adored. It comes out on November 18th and I’m so anxious to read it! Which is why I keep procrastinating on it, obviously. Thank you for understanding. I can’t spoil the journey for you, but basically, Sonya inherited this house and the house is great, minus the part where it’s haunted by this creepy ass ghost and everyone who falls in love and gets married in the house dies. Well, the women anyway. So good. Hope we defeat terrifying ghost lady in this one and everyone lives happily ever after.

The Rebel with the Broken Strings by Stacey Kennedy is the conclusion to her Naked Moose trilogy, a trio of stand alone romances centered around three besties who buy a bar in Montana together after things in their lives fall apart. This particular installment is about Aubrey and country music star, Gunner Woods. Apparently they had a one-night stand, but now that he’s in Montana, she’s pretending not to know him. Fun!

I Wish Desperately I Had an ARC

The Strength of the Few drops on November 11th and my audio pre-order is in. I cannot wait to have this book in my ears. I have a road trip on the 15th so I will have it finished before Brimstone by Callie Hart drops on November 18th. To say I’m excited for Brimstone feels like the most massive understatement. I was caught SO off guard by my love for Quicksilver but like, y’all, I loved that book. So I cannot wait for this one to be in my hands (my ears). I need it and I need it right now. Single Dad Dilemma is also out on the 18th and will probably be what I need to pull me out of my book hangover because Karla Sorensen is so good at writing romances that just capture my attention and don’t let go till the book is over. And then on the 25th, I’ll hopefully be fully ready to go and read Second Chance Romance by Olivia Dade. I love Dade and I am so looking forward to this one.

On My Radar

Closing Thoughts

What books are you most looking forward to in November? I can’t wait to hear!
