So, I just barely managed to get this list down to ten, which means at the end you’re going to have a really long honorable mention section. Anyway, since we clearly have a lot of books to talk about, let’s get started!

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas
I am so excited about this book that I downloaded the read now excerpt from Netgalley that is the first five chapters and all it did was make me MORE anxious for this book to be in my possession. I need it right now. It’s SJM’s first adult fantasy and while I thought it was urban fantasy, it seems high fantasy to me so far from this intro. We follow a half-fae/half-human woman named Bryce and there’s a murder and then the person who they thought committed the murder is in jail when a similar crime happens. I think? Idk, I’ve tried real hard not to know too much about this book. But, I do know that I’m exceptionally excited for it.

Love Hard by Nalini Singh
Jake’s book is finally here!!! I’m so excited because this Hard Play series is one of my favorite ongoing contemporary romance series, if not my favorite? I’ve wanted Jake’s book in particular though since I read Rock Hard, so I’m really pleased it’s finally time. Jake is a rugby player and single dad because maybe his daughter’s mom died? I’m not 100% sure, but we’re definitely going to find out. I have no idea who the love interest is and I want to be surprised so I’m not going to go read the blurb… Sorry. Anyway, isn’t this cover gorgeous?

Crush the King by Jennifer Estep
The series finale of the Crown of Shards series, Crush the King is definitely a book I’m excited about! Weirdly though, the arc has been sitting in my possession for a while and I just can’t bring myself to finish it. I think I’m not quite ready to admit the series is coming to an end. The series is essentially about a woman who has to flee the royal castle after an incident and winds up joining a Gladiator troupe and pretending to be a normal person and not a member of the royal family. Things progress and it’s really fun. Also, there is a romance, but this is definitely more fantasy than romance.

First Comes Scandal by Julia Quinn
I’m really looking forward to reading this book about Georgiana Bridgerton and Nicholas Rokesby. It’s another sort of childhood friends to lovers romance, but with the twist of Georgiana has to marry because she’s been ruined or something by a scoundrel. And Nicholas volunteers. I’m looking forward to this read!
Release Date: April 21, 2020
Girl Gone Viral by Alisha Rai
I mean, y’all know I’ve already read this book because I included it on my list of favorite non-2019 titles. I absolutely loved Jas and Katrina. They’re brilliant together and the mutual pining is so gorgeous. I can’t wait to have Alisha Rai sign a copy of this book for me at Kiss Con!!
Release Date: April 21, 2020
The Rakess by Scarlett Peckham
I’m still upset I missed Avon giving out 50 e-ARCs on the Kiss Con facebook page the other day because the amount of excitement I feel about a gender flipped rake??? Y’all don’t even know. I also adore Peckham’s writing. She’s brilliant on a technical level and I’m really excited about this. Oh and the love interest is a widow with two kids. Yeah, I think this is going to be great and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Release Date: April 28, 2020
Deal with the Devil by Kit Rocha
This is the first book of a new series by writing duo Kit Rocha and I’m super excited about it. Fortunately, I have it as an e-arc so I don’t have to wait too terribly long to get to it, just long enough to have time for a full on binge of the book. It’s described as Orphan Black meets post-apocalyptic The Avengers in the vein of Ilona Andrews’ Hidden Legacy series and those are three of my favorite pop culture things so basically, I can’t freaking wait for this one!
Release Date: May 12, 2020
Chaos Reigning by Jessie Mihalik
This is the third book in the Consortium Rebellion series and I absolutely adore it. I think YMMV as to whether this book is the perfect blend of sci-fi and romance, too much romance, or too little romance, but I definitely fall into that first category. This particular installment is starring the youngest member of the von Hasenberg family, Catrina, and she’s finally getting to take advantage of being underestimated and gets to spy on people at some kind of event. But she’s only allowed to go if she’s accompanied by a bodyguard, Alexander Sterling. I’m a sucker for bodyguard/guardee romances and I’m excited to see what spin Mihalik puts on the trope in this one.

Something to Talk About by Meryl Wisner
Berkley’s first sapphic romance is finally hitting shelves this Spring and I for one can’t wait! It’s going to be utterly delightful if this blurb is anything to go by. Essentially, a showrunner and her assistant were photographed laughing together and suddenly the tabloids have them dating. I absolutely can’t wait to read more about how this unfolds.
Release Date: May 26, 2020
Queen Move by Kennedy Ryan
All we know about this at the time I’m writing it is that the book features Kimba, a side character from The Rebel King & The Kingmaker. Which, I mean, that’s enough for me.
Release Date: Sometime in May
