This is one of my absolute favorite posts to make every year, and this year I’m participating in Top 10 of 2019 so that makes this even more special. (There are twelve here though because I can’t narrow it down to ten. I barely got it to twelve.) I love getting excited about books and having things to look forward to! There are always books that I expect to come at some point, but where I don’t have a release date or a title. Normally I just include those books anyway, BUT I have too many books I want to talk about, so I’m just going to include them at the end of the list as honorable mentions. Hope you don’t mind! And I limited myself to my top twelve most anticipated books (plus the cheating honorable mentions, but whatever). So… Let’s hop to it!

The Map from Here to There by Emery Lord
The Start of Me and You is one of my favorite YA romances of all time. I mean, who doesn’t want a man to argue with about which of the Bennett sisters is superior? So when Emery Lord announced this sequel, I am not exaggerating when I tell you I screamed. The wait was agonizing but I was blessed enough to receive an ARC! My review is up now and I think this book is perfect for any teen in your lives or for anyone experiencing a transitionary period. But anyway, since I’ve told you nothing so far, this book is about Paige, who is deciding what she’s going to do for college. Whether she’ll stay local or follow her dreams of going to school for script writing at NYU or UCLA. And, of course, about how that will affect her relationship with the boy who I won’t name in case you haven’t read The Start of Me and You. Also, I’m three chapters in and the inclusiveness of the side characters is marvelous as always. I love Emery Lord.

The King of Crows by Libba Bray
The fourth installment in The Diviners, I really can’t wait to see how this series wraps up and am beyond desperate to know what’s going on with my favorite characters. And my precious bbs all need to wind up okay. But the stakes are high and we definitely learned some THINGS about how Libba Bray feels about killing people off so… But please let this have some kind of HEA. Any kind.
Release Date: February 4, 2020
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas
So, I think this new adult series is about a fae whose friends were all murdered and now Bryce has to avenge their deaths and figure out who committed the crime. So, of course, because Sarah loves me, there’s a love interest whose name is Hunt (not to be confused with Owen Hunt of Grey’s, I hope) who is a fallen angel and they team up. Or something. Anyway, it doesn’t matter, I can’t wait. I love Sarah’s writing.
Release Date: March 3, 2020
Girl Gone Viral by Alisha Rai
HI MY PRECIOUS. God bless Avon because they let me have an ARC and I absolutely adored it and want to count it as one of my best books of the year. It feels unfair though… Anyway, Girl Gone Viral follows Katrina, a painfully shy and anxious woman, whose encounter with a cute stranger goes viral in one of those freak twitter things. She doesn’t even want #CafeBae, she wants the bodyguard and friend, Jas Singh, who whisks her away to his family’s home. Forced proximity + mental health rep from one of my favorites?? This book was written for me. (And I guess the rest of you too.)
Release Date: April 21, 2020
Chaos Reigning by Jessie Mihalik
So, I love this series with an intense passion and I’m not ready for it to end. But I do love this cover. The colors are just my favorites. Anyway, Chaos Reigning follows Catarina, the youngest of the von Hasenberg siblings, who goes undercover as a spy because she’s always underestimated and passed over as a potential threat. My favorite! She gets stuck with a bodyguard posing as her lover for her latest mission though, so now we’re combining even more things I love. So, yes, very excited!
Release Date: May 19, 2020
How to Catch a Queen by Alyssa Cole
First of all, the spinoff bait Alyssa laid out in A Prince on Paper deserves entire papers written about it because I was basically yelling in a text thread that I needed this story before it was announced. But because Alyssa is a magical goddess, she gave me exactly what I wanted and now my eyeballs are anxious to read it. I mean, look at these blurb excerpts: “Shanti and her husband may share an immediate and powerful attraction, but her subjects see her as an outsider, and everything she was taught about being the perfect wife goes disastrously wrong.” “His [Sanyu’s] beguiling new queen seems to have the answers to his country’s problems—except no one will listen to her.” Like, I just can’t believe I get to read this in six months. I’m so excited.
Release Date: May 26, 2020
The Heir Affair by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan
I’ve been desperate for a sequel to The Royal We since its release and I couldn’t believe the news when a sequel was finally announced because it’s been YEARS. If I’m not mistaken, this is boing to essentially pick up where The Royal We left off so I definitely should reread that one because I want to make sure I’m fresh on the dramatic and scandalous twists and turns that book took. I can’t wait for the new drama, but I don’t want to spoil anything. I’ll just say thank you Meghan Markle for inspiring publishers to pick up the books we DESERVE.
Release Date: June 16, 2020
Alpha Night by Nalini Singh
Who wants to hold me while I cry that we’re getting Selenka Durev’s book and her mate is a freaking ARROW? I’m in AGONY waiting for this book, which, tbh, is just a perpetual state of being that I’m in regarding Nalini’s releases. Also, I’m not positive on the release date for this, but it is what it is and that is excellent.
Release Date: June 20, 2020
Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert
Y’all already know I love Talia and that I adored Get a Life, Chloe Brown, so it should come as no surprise to see Take a Hint, Dani Brown on this list. Following Dani who gets valiantly rescued from a fire by “brooding security guard, Zafir” and Zafir himself, the book follows the two of them dealing with the aftermath of that rescue going viral and then there’s fake dating!! Talia knows how to deliver tropey deliciousness so you know I can’t wait for this one!
Release Date: June 23, 2020
Daring and the Duke by Sarah MacLean
FINALLY. The series conclusion starring Grace, the mysterious and slightly elusive actual legitimate daughter of the Duke of whatever, and Ewan, human trash can who is about to have to grovel THE MOST. I cannot wait!! Um, yeah, so basically Ewan is pretending/was chosen to pretend to be the Duke of whatever’s legitimate son and heir and in order to be chosen, he committed some pretty terrible acts against Grace, Devil, and Whit. Oh and Devil and Whit lied and told him Grace was dead, but Grace is NOT dead and also she’s a badass. I can’t wait!!!

You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria
Jasmine Lin Rodriguez had a very public breakup and a bad first impression with her new co-star for a romantic comedy where they really need to sell the chemistry. Careers on the line, Ashton and Jasmine agree to rehearse privately and that rehearsal turns into very real sexual chemistry. As a huge fan of Daria’s writing, I am so, so excited for this book!
Release Date: July 7, 2020
Emerald Blaze by Ilona Andrews
My precious bbs are hopefully going to make progress in their path to their own HEA and I cannot wait. You should definitely read the Hidden Legacy series if you haven’t already.
Release Date: August 25, 2020
Now for the Honorable Mentions section:
Nalini Singh
- The next Guild Hunters
- The next installment in her Hard Play series
Courtney Milan’s next release (whatever and whenever that may be)
Kennedy Ryan’s Queen Move
Tessa Dare’s The Bride Bet
I could keep going, but I’m going to cut my cheating off here. What books are you most looking forward to? Any that you can’t believe I’ve left off my list?
xx

Yes to all of these!! I keep forgetting Sarah J. Maas has a new book coming out, but I’m excited for it. And I CAN’T WAIT for Emerald Blaze, Chaos Reigning, How to Catch a Queen, Alpha Night, Daring and the Duke, You Had Me at Hola, and The Bride Bet!! You’re also reminding me that I really need to read The Royal We, and I have to finally get to my arc of Girl Gone Viral!
