An excuse to read romance novels is obviously far from necessary for me, but I’ll take one anyway! I’ve been feeling slumpy for the last week and reluctant to read much, which is very weird for me, so I’m looking forward to starting what is looking like an extremely hectic week with a drive to read romance novels. In case you missed Round One, #SmutAThon was created and is hosted by Riley at Riley Marie and Lainey from gingerreadslainey. Round Two is running from December 10-16 and there are seven challenges. Let’s hop to my TBR!
1. Enemies to Lovers
Hate Notes by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward is my pick for enemies to lovers and it follows a boss and his employee and she really doesn’t like him. I haven’t ever read a book by either of these authors so I’m excited to try some new authors!
2. Friends with Benefits
I think it might finally be time to read If the Dress Fits by Carla de Guzman, which I have had on my TBR for entirely too long. It’s a blend of friends to lovers and fake relationship, which means I’m going to be a messy ball of joy reading it, I’m pretty sure. And I really, really, genuinely need to get through some of the books that have been languishing on my TBR for years as opposed to the just added because I lost control of my one-click finger in November… Anyway, very excited about this one!
3. Fake Relationship
Emergency Engagement by Samanthe Beck is one I honestly don’t remember picking up, which means it was probably a #RomBkLove recommendation that I one-clicked because I have a problem. But essentially, this book follows a woman who thought she would be proposed to over Thanksgiving, but the guy her family assumes is the one is, um, well, not. But now his family is all excited about her and her family is excited so, what’s the harm in a little fake relationship? I am really excited for this one, honestly.
4. Slow Burn
Mariana Zapata is the Queen of Slow Burn, but like, ya girl does not have time for a five hundred page book. I just don’t! So obviously, I’m going to try anyway. I have Kulti via my Audible Romance Lovers package or whatever it’s called and court four days in a row next week so hopefully that will be enough driving to at least get me a good chunk of the way through this one. Maybe I’ll at least be able to listen to half and only have to read the other half.
5. Forbidden
Sin & Ink by Naima Simone is definitely happening this week because I love her writing and this cover is gorgeous. Apparently this book is about a former MMA fighter turned tattoo shop owner who is in lust with his brother’s widow who happens to work at the shop. I’m very excited.
I’m also maybe going to try and squeeze Rafe by Rebekah Weatherspoon, which is about a buff male nanny and the mother of the kids he’s nannying and bless up, I can’t wait to read this one. Like, do the other categories have to happen? I mean… Jk, the problem is that I want to read all the books.
6. Different Worlds
Stripped by Zoey Castile is another book that was getting so much buzz and may not perfectly fit into this category, but it’s CLOSE ENOUGH. Essentially it’s about a male stripper and a schoolteacher with a pretty traditional and conservative family, or at least that’s what I took away from the blurb. So I’m counting this as different worlds because I want to, okay?
I also really, really want to read Tikka Chance on Me by Suleikha Snyder, which fits into this category probably more neatly based on the blurb. It’s essentially Chris Evans as a bad boy biker falling in love with good Indian girl, Pinky Grover, who is working in her family’s restaurant. I have such high hopes for this novella and am really looking forward to it, so hopefully I can fit it in as well. We shall see.
7. One Night Stand
Alpha Prince by Sidney Bristol landed on my Kindle who knows when and has been languishing there since. Turns out, it involves not only a one night stand, which has led to the one who got away trope that I actually enjoy, but also (bafflingly) the mafia? I’m confused, but intrigued so it looks like it’s time to give this one a go.
There are too many books I’m extremely excited about that I’m going to try and cram into seven days, but let us all hope that it goes well and I can accomplish at the very least, most of the books on this list! Are you participating? What are you reading for SmutAThon?
