If you’re wondering why I’m starting a Readathon in the middle of another Readathon (Tome Topple), that is a completely legitimate question and I don’t really have an answer other than, how was I supposed to resist this romance themed readathon? Beginning July 9th and lasting through the 15th, the SmutAThon has seven challenges and is being hosted by Lainey and Riley. So let’s hop to my TBR!
1) Enemies to Lovers: Friction by Sawyer Bennett
This romance novel is about two attorneys on opposite sides of the v and I’m extremely excited! The reality of being an attorney is a bit less glamorous than popular culture makes it seem, but I can’t resist a book putting my profession front and center.
2) Friends to Lovers: Scoring Off the Field by Naima Simone
I think this is about football, but who even cares because Sarah MacLean recommended it. Seriously, I know next to nothing beyond that and it’s friends to lovers. I’m very excited about it though!
3) Second Chance: Rock Weddingby Nalini Singh
Second chance is my least favorite trope, but it’s not like I can resist Nalini Singh. I’ve been procrastinating on this book because it’s the last one in this series and I don’t want it to end, but now’s a good time to go ahead and dive into it! This book follows Sarah and Abe who divorced when they were younger because Abe is an addict. I’m a little wary of this one, but also very excited because I adore Nalini Singh.
4) Fake Dating: Grumpy Fake Boyfriendby Jackie Lau
I was so excited for this book that I pre-ordered it, but at this point I remember literally nothing? Oops. I do know I really like Lau’s twitter though and the cover for book two looks delightful. I’m really looking forward to trying this new to me author!
5) Arranged Marriage: Firelightby Kristen Callihan
I know actually nothing about this book besides that Heaving Bosoms did a podcast episode on it, so I’m going to finally read it for this challenge so I can listen to the podcast episode! This is also the only book of these that I currently have on audio so that will be helpful since I’ll be driving to and from D.C. during this readathon.
6) Stranded Together: To Scotland, With Love by Karen Hawkins
Another new to me author during this readathon, which is something I’m a little proud of, honestly, this book is one I found by searching for books fitting the trope. I think this book could also fit the friends to lovers trope based on the blurb, but I’m more or less going in blind.
7) Love Triangle: Fair Gameby Amy Andrews
This is a sports romance about women’s rugby in Australia. Apparently, our heroine starts playing for a team that her ex coaches and then her best friend who has wanted her forever helps her when she’s injured. So she has to choose between them. I’m not sure how this book is going to wind up going, but let’s all cross our fingers it goes well because I’m very nervous! It’s also extremely short, which is good for a readathon, but makes me even more nervous, honestly!
Are you participating in this readathon? If so, what are you reading?
