I am genuinely so excited to be posting this challenge for today! Hopefully you saw my Instagram post on the Biannual Bibliothon Instagram account, but if you didn’t, participating in this challenge will hopefully not take you too long!
Challenge:
Describe your favorite winter scene from a book and explain why you would want to be in it. Is it because you love the characters? The world?
Rules:
1. Leave a comment with the link to your post down below by 11:59 PM in whatever time zone Hawai’i is in (aka by 4:59 AM EST).
2. I’ll use a random number generator to choose a winner
What You Win:
My sincere appreciation and… a pre-order (as long as Book Depository can ship to you) of one of my Most Anticipated Books of 2018! Which book is up to you, but I’m pretty sure you can’t go wrong with any of them. 🙂
Example:
If I could be in any Winter scene, I would be at Hogwarts on Christmas morning. In real life, I would never want to be without my family, but we’re pretending here, right? I would want to be friends with Harry and Hermione (and Ron, I guess) and open our presents together. Hermione is THE BEST and I love her so we would obviously exchange books. I’m thinking she would like a non-fiction read addressing social inequality like Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge or Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond. Or maybe Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay, but let’s be real, she’s probably already read that.
I’d probably give Harry something sentimental that expressed something about our friendship, like the cute embroidered gift Taylor Swift gave Ed Sheeran that says “Started from the bottom, now we here.” I love their friendship and in my head, Harry and I could totally pull off a similar friendship. (Until I start dating Draco Malfoy and he gets mad, but shh. #self-insert fanfiction anyone?)
I would probably give Ron some sort of muggle joke set kit or card tricks because well, Ron will never not remind me of an overgrown child. #sorrynotsorry
And after we exchanged presents, we would go down to the Great Hall and play with those crackers that seemed so cool and then go outside and play in the snow. There’s obviously going to be a White Christmas because Hogwarts is MAGICAL and we all deserve that right?
In case it isn’t obvious, I would do this for both the characters and the location, the world of Harry Potter. Would I want to help fight Voldemort and his Death Eaters? Eh, maybe you’d find me hiding in a closet somewhere praying no one comes near me, but a girl can dream, right?
I can’t wait to read all of your posts so definitely link me to them! And let me know how your reading is going for the Readathon!
