Aren’t you in the middle of a readathon, Jenica? Why, yes, yes I am. But you know. It ends on Friday and Saturday at 12:01, the 24 in 48 Readathon begins! If you haven’t heard of this readathon, it’s basically Dewey’s light, which is perfect for people like me who like sleep too much to handle 24 hour readathons well. The goal is to read for 24 hours in a period of 48 hours. And if you sign up, you could do the challenges and potentially win prizes!
I thought I would make a TBR because the month is almost over and I have books that I need to read before the end of the month and books that I’m tired of sitting unread. So here we go!
Goal One: Complete Before the Devil Breaks You by Libba Bray
Honestly, this is unrealistic given that I have over seven hours left on the audiobook and there’s no way I’m going to be in the car that long or willing to clean for quite that long. But hopefully I can get pretty close. You would think I’m not enjoying this audiobook for as long as it’s taking me to get through it, but that’s not true. I’m just struggling to focus for some reason.
Goal Two: Read Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay
Perhaps not in its entirety, though Lord knows I should be able to do so, but at the very least, when I go to set a book down, I would like to read one essay from Bad Feminist because I have GOT to get to this book. This is ridiculous.
Goal Three: Read The Round House by Louise Erdrich
No, really, the whole thing. YOU’RE IN A BOOK CLUB, JENICA.
Goal Four: Read Take the Lead by Alexis Daria
Okay, it doesn’t HAVE to be Take the Lead but I do want to read a romance novel this weekend, especially if I’m packing my reading list with several heavy books and I’m really excited about Take the Lead.
Goal Five: Have fun!
Okay, that’s cheesy, but seriously, reading is fun and while I’m excited for this readathon, I think it’s important to remember that the goal is honestly to have fun, not to lose too much sleep and forget to eat. If you’re participating, let me know! I’ll be live tweeting my thoughts/feelings/progress so hopefully I’ll see you there!
