March TBR: New Releases & TBR Prompts

Several of my Most Anticipated books come out in March, so I’m definitely excited for it to arrive! I’ve actually already read one of them, Finlay Donovan Digs Her Own Grave by Elle Cosimano, which I adored, but I’m excited for it to be out so I can talk to other people about it too. But anyway, let’s talk about the books that are coming out in March! And then we’ll get to the TBR prompts I’ve pulled.

March ARCs

Finlay Donovan Digs Her Own Grave by Elle Cosimano is the fifth book in the Finlay Donovan series, which is a “cozy” mystery that I’m not honestly sure totally fits into that genre, but is close to it. Anyway, Finlay four ended with quite the cliffhanger after wrapping up the overarching mystery situation of the first four books and in this one, I was so excited to see what would happen with Finlay and Nick now that certain things are resolved. I was aghast by the return of certain characters and was screaming at points. For a while, I was so proud that Finlay hadn’t committed any new felonies. It didn’t last… Anyway, this book comes out on March 4th and I’m truly so excited for everyone else to get a chance to read it!

Promise Me Sunshine by Cara Bastone is a standalone romance about a woman who is grieving her best friend and then she meets Miles through babysitting his niece. I’m not really sure exactly what this book is going to entail, but given my adoration of Bastone’s writing and her romances, I absolutely can’t wait to devour this. This one also drops on March 4th!

The King’s Messenger by Susanna Kearsley is set in 1613 and doesn’t appear to have dual timelines, which is a little different. I know that it’s still connected to her other books like The Winter Sea, but I think super loosely and I say that only because Patrick Graeme is on her character list in the front matter. Anyway, it really doesn’t matter to me what this book is about because I’m obsessed with Kearsley’s writing and also I’m now like firmly a Jacobite even though I still can’t explain what that means with any semblance of eloquence. She’s just truly altered my brain chemistry. Anyway, this is another March 4th release!

Finally, we have My Big Fat Fake Marriage by Charlotte Stein, which is the follow up to her When Grumpy Met Sunshine, both of which are inspired by Ted Lasso and that’s a show I adore, so I’m looking forward to this one. This one comes out on March 11th.

TBR Jar Prompts

I went with six prompts this month and I’m also trying to make sure that I hit books off my owned TBR and then also for a different readathon I’m doing (Realmathon, hosted by CoverswithCassidy) I get extra points for reading an author I’ve read before so those are things I’m trying to keep in mind.

My first prompt is Continue a Series, which is a true gift for me, honestly, because I need to continue so many. The easiest choice is Wild Side because I’m absolutely picking that up immediately, but actually, to help me finish a series, I should read Lady of Starfire by Melissa K. Roehrich, preferably before I continue in the Legacy series and wind up spoiling myself for the ending of the series. We’ll see.

Apparently I threw in a few titles into my jar too and took the choice right out of my hands, so for pick number two, I’ll be reading The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston. The audiobook hold just came through on Libby, so that’s perfect timing too.

Prompt number three is Hidden Gem, which I usually think of as a book with fewer than 1,000 reviews. I have so many options for this that I’m a little overwhelmed, so I looked through my #SpringIntoLoveBingo TBR and now I’m thinking maybe Return to Hummingbird Lane by Reese Ryan or Return to Cherry Blossom Way by Jeannie Chin.

Prompt number four is ReRead, which makes me so delighted. I really need to re-read Gleam so I can finally get to the books I haven’t read yet in the Plated Prisoner series, but I’ve been wanting to reread The Magnolia Chronicles ever since I finished In a Rush by Kate Canterbary, Also, someone reviewed Iron and Magic by Ilona Andrews on Goodreads and now I want to pick that one up again too. Honestly, so many great options. We’ll see what I wind up picking up.

Prompt number five is Touch Her and Die vibes book and I’m kind of torn on this one. I think Lady of Starfire would definitely work. But I could also continue the House of Devils series that I started this month and read City of Souls and Sinners because that one absolutely has touch her and die vibes. Unfortunately not a book I already own, but I could easily fix that before March.

Prompt number six is Pick a book with a similar cover as your last five star. My last five star is the one I literally finished just before starting to write this post, Rebel Witch by Kristen Ciccarelli. I have… no idea what to go with for a book with a similar cover. It’s got a key and a moth and it’s red… So let’s see. I think while both of my options are very different than this cover, they both have the simple item as a focus and then the rest of the cover is pretty plain. So I’ve got the grey version of Swordheart by T. Kingfisher, not the new one, which is gorgeous, but too busy to be similar, or Realm of Ash by Tasha Suri, which would work even better if I had the blue version of Rebel Witch, but I do not. Either way, I’d actually be so excited to read either of these books so I hope that I actually fulfill this prompt!

Closing Thoughts

What are y’all hoping to read in March? I’m probably most excited about The King’s Messenger, Promise Me Sunshine, and Wild Side. And by probably the most excited, I mean, absolutely. I can’t wait. Anyway, let me know what you’re looking forward to in the comments!
