My Most Anticipated Reads of 2024

Well, or at least the first half. I have a lot of books that I’m excited about in the upcoming year and I’m really hoping they live up to all of my excitement. So here are the books I’m anticipating releasing between January and June, I’ve saved July – December for a second post at some later time. I’ve already posted my Most Anticipated Books of Winter, so some of these will look familiar, but I’ve tried to be more diligent in keeping this list to just 12 books and making sure that they’re the ones giving me that “Drop everything now” kind of feeling. So let’s get started, shall we?

2024 Most Anticipated

House of Flame and Shadow
by Sarah J. Maas

This is book three in SJM’s Crescent City series and I am truly obsessed. I really need to hurry up and do my re-reads of ACOTAR and CC 1 and 2, but I am struggling to make my brain want to annotate. Anyway, this book is out January 30, 2024 and I really need to remember to take the day off work so that I can spend all day curled up on the couch reading instead of trying to sneak pages in while at the office.

At First Spite by Olivia Dade

From what I am gathering from this synopsis, Athena is having to start over after her fiancé ends their relationship and now she’s living in something termed The Spite House. Helpfully, she has a neighbor she likes to annoy, but also, he’s cute and helped her move in. So I’m guessing eventually some sparks will fly and we’ll have the promised romance. I’m looking forward to it. This one releases on February 13, 2024.

King of Sloth by Ana Huang

King of Sloth is the fourth book in Huang’s Kings of Sin series and I’m so excited for Sloane to get her happily ever after and the fact that it’s going to be with Xavier has me intrigued. She’s quite strait-laced and he is definitely not, so I’m excited. They’ve been butting heads for at least two books so I can’t wait to read about the two of them falling in love. This one comes out on April 30, 2024.

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice
by Elle Cosimano

Another fourth book in the series, Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is a book that I’ve been wanting since the instant I finished book three. Of course, once I got the ARC, I was suddenly paralyzed with an inability to actually pick it up because I’m too excited for it. Is there logic to that? No, absolutely not. But anyway. Finlay #4 picks up where #3 left off and Finlay and Vero are taking a road trip. Alas, I think Steven is coming too, but fingers crossed he’ll accidentally perish somewhere along the way. Also, where is Nick?? Anyways… I could probably read and find out the answers to my questions, but you know. This comes out on March 5, 2024!

The Other Side of Disappearing
by Kate Clayborn

Goodreads Synopsis: Hairstylist Jess Greene has spent the last decade raising her younger half-sister, Tegan—and keeping a shocking secret. Ever since their reckless mother ran off with a boyfriend she’d known only a few months, Jess has been aware that he’s the same accomplished con man who was the subject of a wildly popular podcast.

Now thirty-one, Jess didn’t bargain on Tegan eventually piecing together the connection for herself. But Tegan plans to do exactly what Jess has always feared—leave their safe, stable home to search for their mother—and she’ll be accompanied by the prying podcast host and her watchful, handsome producer, Adam Hawkins. Unwilling to let the sister she’s spent so much of her life protecting go it alone, Jess reluctantly joins them.

Together, the four make their way across the country, unraveling the mystery of where the couple disappeared to and why. But soon Jess is discovering other things too. Like a renewed sense of vulnerability and curiosity, and a willingness to expand beyond the walls she’s so carefully built. And in Adam, she finds an unexpected connection she didn’t even know was missing, if only she can let go and let him in . . .

Release Date: March 26, 2024

Why I’m Excited: I love Kate Clayborn and her writing so, so much.

This Could be Us by Kennedy Ryan

Goodreads Synopsis: Soledad Barnes has her life all planned out. Because, of course, she does. She plans everything. She designs everything. She fixes everything. She’s a domestic goddess who’s never met a party she couldn’t host or a charge she couldn’t lead. The one with all the answers and the perfect vinaigrette for that summer salad. But none of her varied talents can save her when catastrophe strikes, and the life she built with the man who was supposed to be her forever, goes poof in a cloud of betrayal and disillusion.

But there is no time to pout or sulk, or even grieve the life she lost. She’s too busy keeping a roof over her daughters’ heads and food on the table. And in the process of saving them all, Soledad rediscovers herself. From the ashes of a life burned to the ground, something bold and new can rise.

But then an unlikely man enters the picture—the forbidden one, the one she shouldn’t want but can’t seem to resist. She’s lost it all before and refuses to repeat her mistakes. Can she trust him? Can she trust herself?

Release Date: March 5, 2024

Why I’m Excited: I love Kennedy Ryan and her writing as well, but also, I really love characters who think they have it all together and then watching them pick up the pieces when things fall apart.

Wild Love by Elsie Silver

I genuinely cannot believe how hard I fell for Elsie Silver’s writing in 2023, but here we are. After reading and devouring the Chestnut Springs series, I truly cannot wait for this spinoff that kicks off with Ford falling for his best friend’s little sister. And apparently Ford is a dad, which is a surprise to him, so that will be fun too. Honestly, I really cannot wait for this one. It releases on April 9, 2024.

Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez

Goodreads Synopsis: Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it’s now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They’ll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.

Emma hadn’t planned that her next assignment as a traveling nurse would be in Minnesota, but she and her best friend agree that dating Justin is too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially when they get to rent an adorable cottage on a private island on Lake Minnetonka.

It’s supposed to be a quick fling, just for the summer. But when Emma’s toxic mother shows up and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they’re suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected–including catching real feelings for each other. What if this time Fate has actually brought the perfect pair together?

Why I’m Excited: Abby’s last two books have HIT so hard for me and I’m really hoping Just for the Summer will continue with that trend. I can’t wait to read this one.

Release Date: April 2, 2024

Funny Story by Emily Henry

Goodreads Synopsis: Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra.

Which is how Daphne begins her new story: Stranded in beautiful Waning Bay, Michigan, without friends or family but with a dream job as a children’s librarian (that barely pays the bills), and proposing to be roommates with the only person who could possibly understand her predicament: Petra’s ex, Miles Nowak.

Scruffy and chaotic—with a penchant for taking solace in the sounds of heart break love ballads —Miles is exactly the opposite of practical, buttoned up Daphne, whose coworkers know so little about her they have a running bet that she’s either FBI or in witness protection. The roommates mainly avoid one another, until one day, while drowning their sorrows, they form a tenuous friendship and a plan. If said plan also involves posting deliberately misleading photos of their summer adventures together, well, who could blame them?

But it’s all just for show, of course, because there’s no way Daphne would actually start her new chapter by falling in love with her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex…right?

Why I’m Excited: Well, for one, I love Emily Henry’s books. Beach Read is one of my top 20 romances of all time, pretty sure. Anyway, so that’s the main reason, but the other reason is because this book truly sounds so messy and I’m so excited.

Release Date: April 23, 2024

Archangel’s Lineage by Nalini Singh

I cannot believe I haven’t had a new book in the Guild Hunters series for over a year! Nalini should always feel free to take her time with things, but like, the way she had me so spoiled… Anyway, I can’t wait to pick up in this series with all my faves. I think this is another Elena x Raphael installment and I’m looking forward to seeing what twists and turns we’re taking now. The release date for this one is April 23, 2024.

Mirrored Heavens by Rebecca Roanhorse

So I’ll be honest, I didn’t love book two in this series, but I am so keen to get to the conclusion of this trilogy because I need my characters to come back together and I need to know what the heck happens next. I am desperate to find out how this series is going to wrap up and I am praying that it has a happy ending for my beloved Xiala. This book drops on June 4, 2024 so sadly, still six months to go, but that’s less than I had to wait this time last week!

Right Where We Left Us by Jen Devon

The gorgeous writing of Devon’s debut novel, Bend Toward the Sun, paired with the way she had me so engaged with every single character in that book means that my excitement for Right Where We Left Us is pretty unmatched. This particular book follows Temperance Jean “TJ” and Duncan who have been on again off again and are currently very off again, but they’re dealing with some forced proximity and I for one cannot wait to see those sparks fly. I hope this book wrecks me emotionally, tbh. It releases June 18, 2024 so, you know, we’ll find out eventually.

Closing Thoughts

There are so many books coming in 2024 that I’m really excited about. What books would make your list? Let me know down below!

xx

  1. After taking a lengthy break from blogging I can happily say that I only have one 2024 release currently on my must buy list and that is At First Spite by Olivia Dade. She always delivers with her romance but I have been dying to read this ever since it got mentioned in her newsletter. It has been a long wait for it.
