I know I’ve talked about the fact that Twitter feeling like it’s just fading has really made it hard to focus on content creation, but the place that most affected me was in determining whether or not #FallInLoveBingo needed to return. Fortunately for anyone else who loves a bingo challenge, I was asked on Discord about it and so after checking in with Aarya and Dani who said they can’t join me, I have created an incredibly self-indulgent board with the help of Canva because I had approximately 8 hours until September 1st when I decided to go ahead and throw it together. I may be exaggerating SLIGHTLY but not by a lot.
Anyways, if you’re going to participate, first of all, yay! Thank you! Secondly, if you post about this anywhere, please do your best to make your post accessible. The two specific things I would ask are to capitalize the first letter in each word in the hashtag and then also use alt text or image descriptions for any image posts. But #FallInLoveBingo is taking place from September 1st – November 30th and I’m excited to see what you read!

September 1 – November 30, 2023

Row One
Prompt: Cozy
Cozy is really just about what makes you feel cozy. Some days I think that is a cozy fantasy romance type situation (see The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches), but some days I think it’s a small town romance or falling back into the comforting arms of a reread of a Nalini Singh or Ilona Andrews series binge. Or it’s falling into a quick Harlequin with the cutest covers, do you know what I mean? So go with whatever feels cozy to you.

Prompt: Forehead Kiss
This is definitely a prompt for just stumbling across but because I’m neurotic, I’ve found three specific books that have a forehead kiss (just in case you need one too).

Prompt: Messy
When I think of messy, I usually think about messy characters because that’s my favorite type of woman to read about because like, I’m a mess. Or at least I feel that way ALL THE TIME. But messy can also be for plot (and is what my tbr choices seem to reflect) or… I don’t know. If there’s a mess made in the book you’re reading and you want to count it, I support you. Here are my options!

Prompt: Small Town
My favorite type of book right now is a small town romance. I love the vibes of community so much. If you hate a small town romance, you could absolutely stretch one of the books where someone has left a small town and never looked back. I’m sure those exist… Right?

Prompt: Autumn Leaves Falling Down
Basically, this prompt is for (a) sad girl fall vibes (because it’s a line from All Too Well by Taylor Alison Swift) or (b) covers with leaves on it or (c) a book that is clearly set in the Fall. I support you interpreting this any way you’d like though, realistically.

Row Two
Prompt: Single Parent
While I say single parent, this can really be guardian too, for what it’s worth. But this is my other favorite trope right now. I’m not sure what’s happening to me, but here we are. I have so many books that could fulfill this prompt, so narrowing this down to three was a challenge:

Prompt: Teacher
You know, even now after having been out of all schooling since 2017, I still can’t help but associate Fall with going back to school So lets celebrate teachers by reading about them. If you are a teacher and would like to never read about teachers, I hereby grant you permission for a free pass. Have an extra HEA square!

Prompt: Five Star Prediction
This is for you to predict a book that you’re going to love and permission to just pick it up and devour it. Or savor it. You know, whatever gives you the most joy. Here are three of mine:

Prompt: Break in Case of Emergency
This is for you to let yourself break into your stash of romances that you hold in reserve for the day that you just really need a hit. Because, if you’re being honest, you know you deserve that joy today. But listen, I get it, because I have been refusing to read Sweet on the Greek for YEARS because I cannot handle the idea of running out of Talia Hibbert books to read. But I think this might be the time…
Prompt: Released Between 2020 – 2022
Speaking of books that I refuse to read, lets talk about the books from 2020-2022 that I was most looking forward to and still haven’t picked up, shall we?

Row Three
Prompt: Impulse Borrow/Buy
This prompt is truly for you to just read whatever your heart desires, or at least, to impulse pick up a book. While I say borrow or buy, I won’t say anything if it’s a book you impulsively pick up from your own TBR…
Prompt: Reread
Re-reading is my favorite so there’s basically always a re-read prompt on these boards. Who knows which book I’ll pick up for this, but I’ve been re-reading a lot this year so it won’t be a challenge to fulfill.
Prompt: Happily Ever After
Your free space! Any book with an HEA, aka any romance.
Prompt: Audiobook or Graphic Novel
I’m more of an audiobook girlie myself, but I do actually have an ARC of a graphic novel, Ruined that I should probably pick up for this one!
Prompt: Novella
I don’t know about you, but I have a ton of novellas sitting on my kindle that I am so excited to get to. Here is a small list of possibilities:

Row Four
Prompt: Second Chance
While I meant this prompt to be a second chance romance, you could also interpret it as a second chance with a book you previously DNF’d or an author you’re giving another try. Here are three books that I’m tempted to pick up for the first interpretation, a second chance romance:

Prompt: Dance
Whether the book you choose features a dance, dancing in the kitchen by oneself, or a dancer even if no dance is performed on page, fly free! Find what fits this prompt best for you.

Prompt: Librarian
Either I accidentally made this prompt much harder than it needs to be or I’ve legitimately read every book about librarians I’m interested in. Fortunately, Things We Left Behind by Lucy Score is a book that released this month and I’ve already read it, so it gets to count for this prompt. Sloane is a librarian and she has a sort of enemies to lovers situation going on with Lucian, who is desperately in love iwth her but is lying to himself and his friends and Sloane trying to pretend he’s not. It’s precious.
Prompt: Black Love
Black Love is a romance about Black love interests (2, 3, 4, 12, it doesn’t matter, but they all have to be Black) that is written by a Black author.

Prompt: Recommended to You
So, while you could take this as a personalized recommendation where someone you know has specifically sayd that they think you in particular will like this bookk or you can just find a recommendation from tiktok, instagram, twitter, or any social media platform where someone has recommended a book that you think you’ll like. My three choices are Crash by RubyMcNally because of Kate Clayborn and B’s recommendation on Instagram. Then I’ve got Carolina Home by Virginia Kantra, a recommendation from Jess when I asked for people’s favorite single dad recommendations on instagram after my binge of like four in a row. Finally, I’m going with Only for the Week by Natasha Bishop, thanks to recommendations from a lot of people, but in particular, Mina Reads.

Row Five
Prompt: Tattoos
I feel like tattoos probably don’t get enough love on our main characters in many romance novels, so this prompt is to highlight some of our tattooed beloveds. Here are three that I’m considering:

Prompt: Sportsball
Any sport! Just pick whatever is calling to you. Here are three I’m considering:

Prompt: Queer YA
I’ll be honest, I don’t read much YA in general these days, but last year, we put Queer YA on our board specifically because of the fact that Queer YA books are under attack by some people who are… determined to make the world a worse place. So in true spiteful spirit, please read and celebrate the Queer YA book of your choosing.

Prompt: Fall Vibes
Listen, whatever Fall means to you, follow your heart, if the vibes are right, it counts.

Prompt: Witches
For the record, if you want to use two witch books, one for this prompt and one for Fall Vibes, that counts too. I support you.

Closing Thoughts
What are your favorite prompts on this board? Are you going to play along? If so, what book are you most excited to get to? Any books you’d recommend for particular prompts? Let me know!!
xx
