Tome Topple Wrap Up: Week Two

Oh my goodness. I had such high hopes for managing to accomplish finishing The Diviners and The Conjuring of Light, but alas. I don’t want to spoil anything so let’s jump in. I left you on Thursday, which involved no reading, too much food and shopping, and not nearly enough sleep. I had finished Crazy Rich Asians and was nine-ish hours into The Diviners on audiobook.

Day Eight: Friday, November 24, 2017

For unknown reasons, my family decided we had to have yet another get together tonight, which involved me hiding for two hours ostensibly wrapping some of the gifts we had bought and listening to an hour or so more of The Diviners. I’m now about ten and a half hours through, but I’m not sure how much I grasped from what I read because your girl is exhausted. It is definitely time for bed.

Day Nine: Saturday, November 25, 2017

Let’s chalk this day up to a wash, reading wise, and focus on the fact that The Christmas Prince on Netflix is the best romance movie I’ve seen in ages. I mean, it’s really not actually a great movie, but that’s why it’s great? I don’t know. It would make sense, probably, if you watched it. That said, I’ve heard really good things about a new Lifetime movie that I need to figure out how to access so I can watch that one too. Anyone else completely obsessed with Hallmark movies? They’re trash but so good. Well, actually, The Christmas Train which Mom and I watched tonight was just awful, but usually they’re also good!

Day Ten: Sunday, November 26, 2017

Well, I did a lot of reading today, but none of it was for Tome Topple. But I managed to finish three ARCs, which is an exciting accomplishment. It would be excellent if I could get one more taken care of tonight, but that might be asking too much. I’ve got quite a few blog responsibilities to take care of tonight and I’m way too obsessed with Animal Crossing. With work this week, I should be able to get through The Diviners no problem, but my best friend is coming in so who knows how A Conjuring of Light is going to go…

Day Eleven: Monday, November 27, 2017

I just got home from work and I am TWO HOURS from the end of The Diviners and I’m DYING. Y’all. I was freaking out at work today because it got so creepy! But in a way that I am super compelled to keep reading. I just love this book so much and I’m distraught because I already went to see if my library has Lair of Dreams in audio and THEY DO NOT. So upset.

Also, I know that A Conjuring of Light is on my TBR, but I still need to finish The Fifth Season for the StorytimeWithSquibbles book club so… I don’t think that’s going to be happening. But I will definitely get it read before it’s due back at the library. For now though, I’m going to dinner with my best friend and will not be reading anything tonight!

Day Twelve: Tuesday, November 28, 2017

I’m pretty sure that the people who were on the road with me this morning think I’m completely ridiculous because I was gasping and screaming while The Diviners played on my 45 minute commute this morning. Fortunately, I was more or less through with the climax by the time I got to work so I was able to finish the audiobook at work without screaming (though I warned my co-workers that was a possibility)!

I then listened to two or so more hours of The Fifth Season, but mostly I was just listening to YouTube videos because I don’t really love the audiobook for The Fifth Season, which is… unfortunate.

BUT I stopped at Target to pick up Hate to Want You by Alisha Rai and am so excited to cozy up with it once I finish typing this while Jaclyn is having dinner with some of her friends. So excited!!

Day Thirteen: Wednesday, November 29, 2017

Guess who finally finished The Fifth Season! If you guessed me, great job. I wound up really enjoying the end of the book, although I did guess the plot twist, which was a pleasant surprise. The thing is, I don’t think I would have if I hadn’t been listening on audiobook. Anyway, I’m very excited to read the second one now, but I’m probably going to physically read it because I just did not get along well enough with that audiobook narrator. This book technically doesn’t qualify for Tome Topple because it’s just under 500 pages, but shh.

Day Fourteen: November 30, 2017

Both November and Tome Topple are over! I started A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue on audio today, which is over 500 pages long, but I was not able to finish it, which makes sense. I made it like 4 and a half hours into it though? I think? I’m not sure I’m loving it as much as so many people did, but I do love the narrator’s voice so it’s not too bad.

Anyway, that’s all for me! Another readathon down and probably the last of the year. Did you participate in Tome Topple? What are your favorite long reads? Let me know!

xx
