May was quite a month. It’s the month that my besties second baby joined us earth side, which was so exciting! And I really enjoyed getting baby cuddles when I went to visit. I also loved spending time with the bestie and her older kid because we’re also besties. So that was a really great trip. But also, it was a stressful month and I was excited for May to flip into June, until this past week happened. But setting that aside, May reading meant so many great reads!! So let’s talk about those.

Breaking Down My Reads by Rating
5 Stars

When looking at all of my five star reads from May together, I am genuinely amazed. I mean, I knew I was having a great reading month, but wow, I really did. I mean, four of these reads were re-reads so I suppose that’s to be expected. But Shield of Sparrows was absolutely brilliant! It was incredible and I devoured it during one day. And then you’ve seen my opinions on Can’t Get Enough and Left of Forever because I was lucky enough to have ARCs of both (and they were both FANTASTIC, obviously). Then I woke up at 4:30 randomly and wound up “one more chapter”-ing my entire way through This Wild Heart last week, so clearly that one swept me off my feet. And Ali Hazelwood has continued her streak of me being obsessed with her releases with Problematic Summer Romance, which was absolute perfection!

I had so much fun with Here for the Right Reasons by Jodi McAlister and read it so, so fast. I really, really enjoyed it. The Conditions of Will by Jessa Hastings was absolutely stunning, even if it wasn’t the next Daisy Haites book. And If This was a Movie was a random Christmas set romance that I picked up and fell madly in love with because, yes, this male main character is a single dad. (Will I ever get out of this desperate obsession with single dad romances? That’s a great question.)

Reviews should be posted for the first five books you see here, Two Secrets to Surrender, The Charmer, Not Safe for Work, Along Came Amor, and Love in Focus because I had an ARC of each of them. I really enjoyed all of these books, but you can see more thoughts in my actual posts. At the end of the month, I really fell into a KU romance binge, which is when and why I picked up Lessons in Heartbreak by Karla Sorensen and I had such a good time with it. Our FMC hires an escort to make her more comfortable talking to/interacting with men, but accidentally mistakes her childhood friend for said escort and our MMC finds himself so intrigued. I loved the character development in this one and I’m so excited for his brother’s book. This is so fun!

Silver Elite was an addictive read for quite a bit of it, but then I really slowed down. Admittedly, I think that had more to do with the fact that my anxiety increased so much that I had to have my sister spoil the ending for me so that I could continue reading. I really enjoyed the plot of this one though because it really does feel like a slightly older Divergent style book, which I loved as a teen. So here’s hoping the sequel to this won’t be disappointing.
Closing Thoughts
I know I often share with you statistics, but at this point, I’m just trying to get this post published, so forgive me, please, for skipping that step. What was your favorite read of May? I’d love to know!
