Fall doesn’t start, technically, until September 21st, but listen, it’s my birthday month, I’ve got matte black nails, and Starbucks already started PSL season. Also I just bought a sweater at Target even though I live in North Carolina so I’ve got a good month and a half before the weather cooperates even mildly with my desire to wear sweaters. That said, I’ve bought hot chocolate from Starbucks twice in the past week so I’m also already anxious for Snickerdoodle hot chocolate to make it’s return. That is happening, right? Anyway! Time to get hype about Fall books and boots!
1) Rebel Hardby Nalini Singh
We’re getting another book in the Hard Play series and it’s following Raj and Nayna! The excerpt Nalini sent out via her newsletter was excellent and I just really cannot wait. Nayna agreed to do an arranged marriage, but she wasn’t really expecting the guy she just made out with to walk through the door. But he did and now he’s sitting next to her at a wedding, which is basically shouting his intention to marry her. You can’t see me, but I’m over here silently screaming because I am utterly delighted and cannot wait to have this book in my hands! Also, this is book two for Nalini this year and book three is later in this post so like, I stan a queen, ya know?
Release Date: September 18, 2018
2) Time’s Convertby Deborah Harkness
I pre-ordered this beauty on audio because I have the All Souls trilogy in paperback and having this in hardback would ruin my aesthetic. Seriously though, I am beyond excited to return to the world Harkness created and to follow Phoebe and Marcus. I’m interested to see how following the two timelines is going to work, since apparently we get to see Marcus becoming a vampire during the Revolutionary War and the present day as Phoebe is welcomed into the de Clermont family. Even just talking about how excited I am for this book has me wanting to go back and re-read A Discovery of Witches and I just did that a couple months ago! Ridiculous. Ahh, I can’t wait!!
Release Date: September 18, 2018
3) A Notorious Vowby Joanna Shupe
Before I read this, I really need to go back and read the first book in the series, A Daring Arrangement, but then I will be extremely ready for this one! I absolutely adore Shupe’s writing. Well, maybe. Anyway, this book is following a deaf hero around the time of the creation of American Sign Language so that’s super exciting! More exciting is that this is a marriage of convenience, bless. Lady Christina Barclay’s parents are trying to set her up with someone intolerable so she turns to her neighbor, Oliver Hawkes to enter a platonic marriage with her. I am so excited, y’all!
Release Date: September 25, 2018
4) What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera
I think almost everyone in the world is excited for this book and I’m no exception. While I was a little disappointed with Leah on the Offbeat and Adam’s other books are literally too sad for me to handle right now, I am genuinely looking forward to reading Arthur and Ben’s story. Arthur is in NYC for the summer and he runs into Ben at the post office where Ben is mailing his ex’s stuff back to him. They have a meet cute, but then the universe is either conspiring to keep them apart or to make it happen, who knows which? Becky and Adam, presumably, but not me. ALSO, this Bustle article told me that if my favorite rom-com is Serendipity, I should read What If It’s Us, and as I love Serendipity with my whole heart… You see where I’m going with this right? Anyway, I’m really looking forward to this book and it comes out during Hispanic Heritage Month, which is helpful! P.S. Check out the Latinx Book Bingo challenge!
Release Date: October 9, 2018
5) Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas
First of all, help me, I’m already so fragile about this book. I’ve been on edge waiting for this book since Empire of Storms came out TWO YEARS AGO. That cliffhanger, y’all. Ugh. Anyway, the Throne of Glass series is finally coming to an end and I am an emotional disaster. This book is over 900 pages long, apparently so like, I think I’m going to need to take the day off because if you think I’m going to be focusing on reality when my Queen is in danger, you are sadly mistaken. (Unless I have court that day, in which case, I will do my best.)
Release Date: October 23, 2018
6) Archangel’s Prophecyby Nalini Singh
Seriously, Nalini Singh is amazing. Anyway, Archangel’s Prophecy sees Elena in danger and the plots going to go further and honestly I don’t really know much more than that, but who cares because my darlings are back! I can’t wait.
Release Date: October 30, 2018
7) The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory
I keep referring to The Wedding Date as joy bottled in a book, which maybe doesn’t make a ton of sense as a simile, but the point is that I absolutely adored Guillory’s debut and cannot wait to pick up her second. Nikole goes to a baseball game with her actor boyfriend who totally unexpectedly pops the question while the jumbotron cameras are pointed right at them. Nikole is a badass who rejects this proposal but then the whole stadium is not impressed. So, Carlos to the rescue! I’m very excited to see Carlos take center stage because he was a such a solid friend to Drew in The Wedding Date!
Release Date: October 30, 2018
8) Diamond Fireby Ilona Andrews
MY BABIES ARE GETTING MARRIED. Mad Rogan is quite possibly my favorite romance hero of all time. Can I re-read Burn for Me yet? Anyway, Connor and Nevada are getting married!! And we’re transitioning into Catalina’s spin-off series or, well, the same series, but Catalina’s part? I’m not really sure. Regardless, ya girl is READY. I literally pre-ordered this novella as soon as it was up and I’m bouncing on my feet just thinking about it. I cannot wait!
Release Date: November 6, 2018
9) Becomingby Michelle Obama
What more is there to say besides Michelle Obama wrote a memoir so I obviously have to have it?
Release Date: November 13, 2018
10) The Other Miss Bridgertonby Julia Quinn
Poppy Bridgerton ran off to sea, which is to say she was kidnapped by two pirates of the ship that Andrew Rokesby, neighbor to her aristocratic relatives. I don’t really know, but what more is there to know than there’s a new Julia Quinn? Problematic as she may be, her books are genuinely delightful. And she’s maybe learning the error of her ways with the help of money and Shondaland… In the meantime, I’m definitely going to enjoy her books.
Release Date: November 20, 2018
Alright, y’all, that’s my list of most anticipated books coming out this fall! What are yours? Am I missing something egregious? Let me know!
