Hello friends! Week One Tome Topple Round Five is now finished! What a concept. I have three books on my TBR for this readathon: Crazy Rich Asians, A Conjuring of Light, and The Diviners. So how did I do in week one? Well, read on to find out!
Day One: Friday, November 17, 2017
I’m supposed to be reading Crazy Rich Asians but instead I’m watching The Incredibles. I don’t know why. But needless to say, Tome
Topple is not off to a great start. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
As an aside, have you seen the teaser trailer for The Incredibles 2? So excited!
Day Two: Saturday, November 18, 2017
It’s 3:00 so I guess I should start reading, but I’m starving so… In a minute. I’ll check back in once I’ve got some pages read today. But the goal is to completely finish up Crazy Rich Asians today. Fingers crossed! Let’s go.
Yes! I did it! You already know this if you read my ContemporaryAThon wrap up, so I won’t bore you with the details, but I really enjoyed Crazy Rich Asians. I need the next two for Christmas so I can read them because I really want to know what’s next for my faves. Especially Astrid. I just love her. I don’t know why. Anyway… Book one down!
Up next, I have The Diviners on audiobook, which I should be able to tackle at work and a hard copy from the library of A Conjuring of Light, which I’m going to have to work super hard to get through this week given I’m trying to work ten hour days. We’ll see how that goes! Until tomorrow…
Day Three: Sunday, November 19, 2017
Well, I accomplished nothing for Tome Topple today, whoops. But I did make vegan zucchini lasagna, so at least I successfully completed something! Hopefully tomorrow I can start both The Diviners and A Conjuring of Light.
Day Four: Monday, November 20, 2017
I’m home from work and the good news is, I was correct about being able to listen to audiobooks at work, but the bad news is that it’s really difficult to listen to audiobooks at work. I managed to listen to three hours worth of The Diviners and I am so happy. I am really enjoying the audio narration and I’m super intrigued by the story. It’s one of those books that you just really don’t want to stop listening to.
Anyway, I’m home now and need to try and read A Conjuring of Light, but what are hardbacks so big and heavy? I’m not sure I’m really in the reading mood tonight either.
Alright, it’s time for bed and I was very much correct about not being in a reading mood. But on the bright side, I was able to renew my loan for A Conjuring of Light so I get to keep it through all of Tome Topple, which means I have much more time than I thought. Woo! Until tomorrow…
Day Five: Tuesday, November 21, 2017
Y’all. I am obsessed with The Diviners audiobook. You know when books have like… song lyrics in the text? I don’t know about you, but I pretty much just skip over those because I don’t know how they’re supposed to sound. But January Lavoy actually sings these things! The reading winds up feeling so atmospheric, which I love. I’m not sure it’s better than Six of Crows, just because I think a full cast could make it even better, but honestly, Lavoy is amazing. I finished another four and half hours today at work/commuting. I’d say I’m getting better at multi-tasking, but honestly, today was just a struggle.
I’m trying to decide if I can lay here and listen to more without getting distracted, but since the answer is probably not, I’m not sure what to do instead. I don’t want to leave the world. I mean, I have an ebook copy of The Diviners, but I really love the audiobook. Such a struggle.
Day Six: Wednesday, November 22, 2017
Work today was a mess and a half, but I made it to hour nine of The Diviners. Still loving it. Am so excited M met T, but am anxiously awaiting the time that he meets everyone. Hopefully that was coded enough to avoid spoilers? Anyway, seriously in love with this book!
Spent the evening driving home so no reading got finished in that time. We’ll see if much of any reading gets done this holiday weekend at all.
Day Seven: Thursday, November 23, 2017
Happy Thanksgiving to my American followers! This holiday is kind of trash considering out history, but I hope that you were able to spend time with your family, found or otherwise, and in reflection of what you’re thankful for.
Here’s hoping that in Week Two of Tome Topple, I finally pic up A Conjuring of Light. I’m confident I’ll finish The Diviners.
